Seahawks Football 101: Correcting a pair of basic mistakes

Sep 28, 2022, 9:39 AM

Three weeks into the 2022 NFL season, the Seattle Seahawks are still working out some kinks. And while the offense made big strides even in a loss to the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday at Lumen Field, the kinks are not limited to the defensive side of the ball.

Huard: Grading out Geno Smith’s performance for Seahawks vs Falcons

In the latest Football 101 video from former NFL linebacker and current Seahawks Radio Network color commentator Dave Wyman, he puts a pair of plays from the Falcons game into focus – one each on offense and defense for the Hawks – to show some basic mistakes that Seattle can correct next time around.

In the first play, he shows an opportunity where quarterback Geno Smith should have called an audible to a running play after seeing the defensive formation that the Falcons had lined up against Seattle.

The second play, meanwhile, shows some of the confusion the Hawks are working through in their new defensive scheme that Atlanta was able to take advantage of.

You can watch the video at the top of this post or at this link.

Catch Dave on Seattle Sports’ Wyman and Bob from 2-7 p.m. every weekday, as well as The Huddle from noon to 2 p.m. every Thursday on Seattle Sports live from Seahawks headquarters, and of course every Seahawks radio broadcast. The 1-2 Hawks continue play this Sunday at 10 a.m. on the road against the Detroit Lions, who are also 1-2. Coverage on Seattle Sports 710 AM and KIRO Newsradio 97.3 FM, the flagship stations of the Seahawks Radio Network, begins at 7 a.m. with the pregame show.
