Seahawks Breakdown: Who has most to gain in preseason finale?
The Seahawks will wrap up their three-game preseason schedule when they take on the Cowboys in Dallas at 5 p.m. Friday night on Seattle Sports, and there’s one player on the Hawks’ roster above all who has the most to gain.
Carroll: What the Seahawks are looking for at QB, why Smith leads Lock
In the latest Seahawks breakdown video with Seattle Sports’ Michael Bumpus, he details why the answer is Dee Eskridge, the Hawks’ top pick from the 2021 NFL Draft who has struggled to stay on the field and contribute in his time with the team.
Bump has long been a fan of Eskridge’s talent, notably identifying the wideout out of Western Michigan prior to last year’s NFL Draft as a good fit for the Hawks.
From 2021: Bumpus on the small-school WR the Seahawks should consider drafting
It’s been a tough go for Eskridge in his time in Seattle, as a toe injury made him start 2021 training camp on the PUP list, and a concussion suffered early in the year cost him a big chunk of the season. And when he was healthy enough to get back on the field, he saw limited targets in an offense that features star receivers DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Eskridge, who was picked 56th overall in the second round in 2021 by the Seahawks, caught 10 passes on 20 targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in 10 games last season.
A hamstring injury has sidelined him this preseason.
Bump details why a big showing from Eskridge could be an important development for Seattle in the video at the top of this post.
