James Paxton was scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday night for Triple-A Tacoma and is expected to be added to the Mariners’ 25-man roster Wednesday. While the team confirms that Paxton is on his way to join the Mariners in San Diego, they have not announced a corresponding move.

In all likelihood, Paxton is being called up to make the start Wednesday that Felix Hernandez was originally scheduled to make. While no reason for such a move has been given, there does not appear to be a serious issue with Hernandez, who went about his normal routine Tuesday morning and was front and center in a team photo Tweeted after the game.

We should know more later in the day.
