Marshawn Lynch apologizes in statement for arrest

Running back Marshawn Lynch has released a statement
apologizing to the NFL, the Seahawks and their fans for
“the negative attention resulting from my recent actions.”
Lynch was charged Wednesday by the Alameda County
District Attorney with DUI stemming from a weekend arrest
near his hometown of Oakland, Calif.
“This is not the type of community leader I have been
over the last two years or the one I’m striving to
become,” the statement read, in part. “I want to assure everyone that I will work to be better and look forward to a very exciting, and very successful season with the Seattle Seahawks.”
Lynch was charged with driving under the influence of
drugs and alcohol and driving while having a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher.
Lynch’s attorney, Ivan Golde, claims Lynch was not at the
California legal limit of .08 when he was pulled over in
Emeryville, Calif., on Saturday and tested at the scene.
Golde noted that Lynch’s level was higher when he was
tested on a calibrated breathalyzer later at the jail.
“The evidence is fairly clear that we have a strong case
in terms of proving that Marshawn was under .08 when he
was driving,” Golde told “The Kevin Calabro
Show” on Wednesday.
Lynch has a court date on Aug. 14, which is
in the middle of Seahawks training camp.
