The Seahawks have shuffled their roster ahead of a Thursday night showdown with the Arizona Cardinals, as they will be without one starter on defense for at least a few weeks while the team’s lead back is once again out with an injury.

Seahawks injuries: CB starters out, Hyde back, Lockett expected to play

Cornerback Quinton Dunbar, one of Seattle’s biggest offseason additions, was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury Thursday afternoon. Dunbar had already been ruled out on Wednesday for the primetime game, and he was inactive last Sunday in a loss to the Rams a week after he struggled and was noticeably hampered by the condition of his knee in a loss at Buffalo.

Dunbar has an interception, five passes defensed, 30 tackles and two tackles for loss in six games this season.

With Dunbar out, Seattle re-signed cornerback Jayson Stanley, who was on the team’s active roster against Buffalo and the week before in a win over the 49ers. The Seahawks are also missing Shaquill Griffin and Neiko Thorpe at the position due to injury.

Running back Chris Carson will also miss the divisional contest. He heads up Seattle’s inactive list as he continues to battle a foot injury that has kept him out of action since Week 7. He was listed as questionable and joins Griffin (hamstring), starting center Ethan Pocic (concussion), backup guard Jordan Simmons (calf) and backup running back Travis Homer (knee and thumb) as players who will miss the game with the Cardinals with injuries.

Rookie tight end Colby Parkinson and backup defensive end Jonathan Bullard are healthy scratches to round out Seattle’s inactives list.

The Seahawks did get some good news when it comes to injuries this week, as Carson’s backup, Carlos Hyde, is active after missing the last three games. He will likely assume lead-back duties. Star receiver Tyler Lockett, who was questionable with a knee injury, will also play against the Cardinals. Lockett being active is big as he had 200 yards and three touchdowns in Seattle’s Week 7 loss in Arizona.

Defensive end Benson Mayowa, who missed the last two games with an injured hamstring, is active, adding a boost to a Seahawks pass rush that got essentially no pressure the last time these two teams faced off.

Earlier Thursday when the news came out that Dunbar was going to IR, the Seahawks made a few other moves as well. Defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison was promoted from the practice squad for the second straight game with defensive tackle Bryan Mone on injured reserve with an ankle sprain.

Running back Bo Scarbrough also received a call up, which seemed to foreshadow that at least one of Carson and Homer would miss the contest. Now, the Seahawks will have Hyde, Scarbrough and rookie DeeJay Dallas as available running backs against the Cardinals.
