Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin stopped in on The Huddle to talk about last Sunday’s loss to the Rams, how the offensive line has become a strength this season, and his first pain-free day in four months.

No time for Seahawks to recover with Packers waiting on Thursday

Baldwin has rarely had issues with injuries throughout his career, playing a full 16-game schedule every season between 2013 and 2017. That being so, battling knee problems all season long hasn’t been easy for a player who has been the centerpiece of the team’s receiving corps for years now.

“It’s been a very long time since I felt like myself,” he said Tuesday on The Huddle on 710 ESPN Seattle

Last week before the Seahawks’ showdown with the Rams, though, Baldwin woke up to a happy development.

Thursday last week was the first day I woke up in the morning and I didn’t feel pain,” he said. “I’ve been dealing with this for four months, and I forgot what it felt like to not have pain.”

For an injury he expected to deal with all season, it’s safe to say this was good news both for Baldwin and the Seahawks’ wild-card playoff hopes. And going into the showdown with the Rams, he continued on to make it through the entire game with no complications.

“I felt free in the game, came out [with] normal soreness – not any more than typical. I’m actually improving,” remarked Baldwin.

While Baldwin has been working his way back from injury, the Seahawks have produced on offense by relying on its run game. And though Sunday’s loss wasn’t the outcome Seattle was looking for, Baldwin said it was refreshing nonetheless to see the offensive line continue to set the ground attack up for success.

“Those guys have set the tone for us from the beginning of the season,” Baldwin said. “Especially with the way we’re running the ball, those guys are the epitome of what we want our offense to be.”

The Seahawks will certainly have their work cut out for them in a short week, as they face the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night on 710 ESPN Seattle and KIRO Radio 97.3 FM. But with a fully healthy Baldwin and O-line finally getting some much-needed push, they at least have a fighting chance.

Wassell: Would you take any other ‘elite’ WR over Doug Baldwin?
