Why haven’t we heard anything about Seahawks’ other coaching hires?

Seattle has reportedly made several coaching moves outside of the offensive and defensive coordinator positions. Fans, though, haven’t heard much of anything.

Why so quiet on the Seahawks’ front?

Brock Huard took a stab at understand the organization’s radio silence during his Blue 42 segment of Brock and Salk on 710 ESPN Seattle Wednesday.

Blue 42: A lesson from Russell Wilsons’s 181 career touchdowns

“It has (been quiet), and I know there have been some hires made and they’ve just not been made public yet,” Huard siad. “I think we’re going to feel this as much as any other year … I think we’re going to see a hyper-focus and a ‘get down to business and work’ mindset from the Seahawks.

“There’s been so much noise over the years. Think about it. For years and years and years the Seahawks had dominated February and March, coming off Super Bowls and playoffs, Richard Sherman trade talks, it was just constant. The Seahawks were front page news year after year, month after month. And it’s been quiet, and I think from the very top. We don’t talk about Paul Allen very much until he makes changes … I think there’s a mandate from above, and I don’t know this, this is just my speculation, there’s a mandate from above like ‘shut up and work … we’ve had so much noise around this place, there’s been such a frenzy, such chaos … we don’t need our business out there 24/7.’ And I think we’re going to feel that an awful lot in this offseason; news isn’t going to come out early, and there’s not going to be this trade talk, and there’s not going to be this speculation. They’re grinding, man. They’re working. After a 9-7 season and a significant step backwards, I think they’re in work mode and they’re going to release that news when they want to.”

The Seahawks announced in January they had hired new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr., and offensive line coach Mike Solari. Former coordinators Darrell Bevell, Kris Richard, and Tom Cable were dismissed earlier this year.
