The Seahawks have made their recent spate of coach hirings official.

Seattle announced the hiring of Brian Schottenheimer as offensive coordinator, Ken Norton Jr. as defensive coordinator, and Mike Solari as offensive line coach. The three newest members of head coach Pete’s Carroll’s coaching staff replace Darrell Bevell, Kris Richard and Tom Cable, respectively.

The team clarified that Richard and linebackers coach/assistant head coach/defense Michael Barrow have been relieved of their duties.

This is Schottenheimer’s first coaching stint with the Seahawks. Schottenheimer, 44, was most recently quarterbacks coach with the Indianapolis Colts, and prior to that offensive coordinator for the Rams (2012-14) and Jets (2006-11). His father, Marty Schottenheimer, was head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.

What we’re saying about Brian Schottenheimer:
O’Neil: Carroll made least exciting hire possible for OC
O’Neil: Russell Wilson is a fixer, and why Seahawks need a new OC
Stelton: Schottenheimer hire doesn’t seem like what Seahawks need
Rex Ryan on Brock and Salk: Schottenheimer a ‘loyal, team-first’ guy
Moore: New OC or not, the important thing is ‘Hawks moved on from Cable

Norton, 51, returns to Seattle after spending the 2015-17 season as defensive coordinator for the Oakland Raiders. Norton has a long coaching history with Carroll, whom he worked under at USC and eventually as linebackers coach with the Seahawks from 2010-14.

What we’re saying about Ken Norton Jr.
O’Neil: Carroll going ‘Back to the Future’ by hiring Ken Norton Jr.
Wyman: Making the case for Ken Norton Jr.

Solari, 63, is being brought on as offensive line coach – a position he previously held for Seattle from 2008-09. Solari joins Carroll’s staff from the New York Giants, where he held the same role.

Ex-NFL lineman Sims: Seahawks will see ‘immediate difference’ with Solari
