Despite being down six points in the final two minutes of their game against the Jaguars on Sunday, the Seahawks still had a chance to rally for a win in the final minutes. To do it, Seattle would need to stop Jacksonville from converting a third-and-11. Unfortunately for the Seahawks, that didn’t happen, and the Jags were able to pick up the first down and walk out the victors.
O’Neil: Seahawks’ defense reached its breaking point
So, what exactly happened on that play?
In the video above, 710 ESPN Seattle’s Dave Wyman breaks down the Jaguars’ final drive. By this time, starting Pro Bowl linebackers Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright had both left the game with injuries and had been replaced by Michael Wilhoite and D.J. Alexander. The play – a mix of error and injuries to major starters on defense – may have resulted in a major conversion for the opposing team, but Wyman is happy with Alexanders’ overall performance – which should give Seahawks fans hope if either or both Seattle’s injured linebackers doesn’t make it back for Sunday’s NFC West showdown with the Rams.
