The Groz to Seahawks’ DK Metcalf: Keep that chip on your shoulder

Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz should have known better than to give Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf something he could turn into fuel.
Has DK Metcalf emerged as the Seahawks’ second-best player?
You’ve probably heard by now that Schwartz, the former Detroit Lions head coach, told Metcalf before Monday night’s Seahawks-Eagles game that he’s not yet at the level of Calvin Johnson, the former All-Pro receiver Schwartz coached in Detroit.
Schwartz didn’t seem to mean anything by the remark. In fact, he most likely was trying to pay Metcalf a compliment by simply comparing him to one of the best wideouts the NFL has ever seen. But you can see the mistake he made, right?
As 710 ESPN Seattle’s Dave “The Groz” Grosby explains in his latest Just a Minute segment, competitive athletes are different than the rest of us. And just like Michael Jordan, who Metcalf referenced in a tweet after torching the Eagles with a career-high 177 receiving yards in a 23-17 win over Philadelphia, the Seahawks’ second-year star had no trouble turning a potentially innocuous interaction into a way to put a chip on his shoulder for the game.
