The Seahawks made a trio of roster moves Thursday, signing wide receiver Morrell Presley and waiving tight end Chase Dixon and guard Jared Smith.
Those moves were all listed on the league’s official transaction report. The Seahawks will likely add two more players by the start of training camp on Friday as their 90-man roster is only at 88.
Presley, an undrafted rookie from Division II California University in Pennsylvania, took part in the Seahawks’ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. Seattle had an opening at wide receiver with Sidney Rice announcing his retirement on Wednesday.
Presley is listed at either 6-foot-3 or 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds. His size is worth noting as he becomes one of the biggest receivers on Seattle’s roster, especially with Rice no longer part of the mix. Presley played some tight end in college.
Smith was a seventh-round pick in 2013 out of New Hampshire. He didn’t play as a rookie, beginning the season on the practice squad and ending it on injured reserve due to a knee injury. He was waived with an injury designation.
Dixon was an undrafted rookie out of Central Arkansas.
