Seattle Reign FC trade forward Jordyn Huitema to Chicago

Seattle Reign FC announced Thursday that the club has traded forward Jordyn Huitema to Chicago Stars FC for $500,000 in league funds.

The $500,000 is made up of $200,000 in allocation money and $300,000 in intra-league transfer funds.

The 24-year-old Huitema has 13 career goals, which ranks eighth in the Reign’s National Women’s Soccer League history, and is also 11th with 70 regular season appearances, 58 of which were starts. She joined the team in 2022 from Paris Saint-Germain and helped the Reign win its third NWSL shield that season.

“Jordyn has been a tremendous professional and teammate during her time with the Reign,” Reign general manager Lesle Gallimore said in a press release. “We’re grateful for the commitment and energy she brought to the club and to our community. We wish her nothing but the best in the next chapter of her career.”

Huitema is a native of Chilliwack, British Columbia, which is a driving distance of roughly 2 1/2 hours from Seattle just on the other side of the United States-Canada border. She has 96 caps with the Canadian National Women’s Team, having represented her home country in both the World Cup and Olympics.

In 2022, it was confirmed that Huitema and Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodríguez are in a relationship.

The Reign went 10-9-7 to finish fifth in NWSL play in 2025, and were eliminated by the Orlando Pride in the quarterfinals of the league’s playoffs.

The 2026 season for the Reign begins at 1 p.m. Sunday at Orlando. They will play three of their first five games at ONE Spokane Stadium, then hold their home opener at Seattle’s Lumen Field on April 26 against Utah Royals FC.
