TV analyst Eddie Olczyk steps away from Seattle Kraken

The Kraken Hockey Network is losing a member of its crew.

Here’s the Seattle Kraken’s expanded 84-game schedule for 2026-27

Seattle Kraken color analyst Eddie Olczyk announced Tuesday he was stepping away from the Kraken Hockey Network for “personal and family reasons.”

“It’s time for me to go back home and be there for me and my family,” Olczyk said in a statement released by the Seattle Kraken. “I want to thank everyone in the Kraken organization, past and present, and the entire Kraken Hockey Network team for giving me this opportunity.”

Olczyk, who turns 60 in August, spent the past four years with the Kraken Hockey Network in addition to his national role for Turner Sports. He will continue his role with the latter. Olczyk worked 65 games last season, including the playoffs, for TNT and national radio on top of his Kraken coverage, as well as called Olympic men’s hockey for NBC.

JT Brown will be the lone primary color analyst on the Kraken Hockey Network during the 2026-27 campaign, according to the team’s website.

Olczyk, a Chicago native, played for six NHL teams over 16 seasons from 1984-2000. As a left-shot centerman, he totaled 342 goals and 452 assists. He was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013.

Prior to arriving in Seattle, Olczyk held color commentary roles with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks. His son, Eddie, is an amateur scout for the Kraken and brother, Rick, is the assistant general manager.
