Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba is active for Sunday afternoon’s Week 3 home matchup against the New Orleans Saints after being listed as questionable with an illness on Saturday.
But the Seahawks will be missing several other key players.
Seahawks make three roster moves ahead of Saints game
Running back Zach Charbonnet (foot), Pro Bowl safety Julian Love (hamstring), two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) and rookie safety Nick Emmanwori (ankle) are all inactive after being listed as doubtful on Friday’s injury report.
Seattle’s other inactives are undrafted rookie edge rusher Connor O’Toole, rookie offensive lineman Mason Richman and undrafted rookie tight end Nick Kallerup.
Meanwhile, rookie third-string quarterback Jalen Milroe is active. Milroe, who the Seahawks have planned to use as a change-of-pace weapon in specialty packages, was active in Week 1 and inactive in Week 2. He played only one snap in the season opener, running up the middle for a 1-yard gain on the first series.

The Seahawks addressed their injury issues with a trio of roster moves on Saturday, signing safety Jerrick Reed II off their practice squad to their 53-man roster and elevating safety D’Anthony Bell and running back Jacardia Wright from their practice squad. All three are active for Sunday’s game.
With Charbonnet out, George Holani will be Seattle’s No. 2 running back behind Kenneth Walker III. Holani is one of the Seahawks’ two primary kick returners this season, but has just three carries for 10 yards in his NFL career – all in last year’s Week 15 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Wright will be Seattle’s third running back.
With Love and Emmanwori both out, some combination of Bell, Reed and Ty Okada will serve as the Seahawks’ second and third safeties behind starter Coby Bryant. Bell and Okada split the third safety role last week while filling in for Emmanwori. Bell played 12 defensive snaps as the third safety, while Okada played nine snaps.
Here’s the list of inactives for the Saints:
• Wide receiver Devaughn Vele
• Wide receiver Trey Palmer
• Running back Devin Neal
• Offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga
• Offensive lineman Dillon Radunz
• Defensive tackle Khristian Boyd
• Defensive end Chase Young
