Seahawks elevate safety, nose tackle from practice squad

Sep 13, 2025, 2:22 PM | Updated: 2:35 pm

The Seattle Seahawks elevated safety D’Anthony Bell and nose tackle Brandon Pili from the practice squad ahead of their Week 2 clash against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

Seahawks’ pass rush could be X-factor against Steelers

Bell, a fourth-year pro who initially signed with Seattle in March, provides added safety depth after rookie Nick Emmanwori was ruled out with an ankle injury. Bell made the Seahawks’ initial 53-man roster last month before he was waived and signed to the practice squad.

Bell, who went undrafted in 2022, spent his first three seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He made seven starts, while totaling two interceptions, four pass breakups, a forced fumble and five tackles for loss. He also is a strong special teams player, having logged more than 1,000 special teams snaps over his three years with the Browns.

Pili, who first landed on Seattle’s practice squad last November, pushed for an initial 53-man roster spot with a strong preseason campaign last month. The highlight came in the second preseason game, when the 6-foot-3, 334-pound Pili burst through the line and brought down Kansas City Chiefs running back Elijah Mitchell in the end zone for a safety.

Pili, who went undrafted in 2023, played sparingly for the Miami Dolphins over his first two seasons before being waived by Miami last November.

A player can be elevated from the practice squad three times before he must be signed to the 53-man roster in order to play.
