Seahawks-Vikings third-coldest game in NFL history

Sports Illustrated reports the wind chill was 20-below zero, which is 5-degrees colder than a 1995 playoff game between the Colts and Chiefs in Kansas City.

It was officially 6-degrees below zero at kickoff, making the Vikings and Seahawks game in Minnesota the third-coldest game in NFL history.

Not that Pete Carroll’s former mentor, Bud Grant, cared, as he wore a short-sleeve shirt for the coin toss.

Sports Illustrated reports the wind chill was 20-below, which is 5-degrees colder than a 1995 playoff game between the Colts and Chiefs in Kansas City, which also had a kickoff temperature of six-below.

The only games more frigid:

• The 1981 AFC championship game between the Bengals and Chargers: 9-below.

• The famed 1967 NFL “Ice Bowl” championship game, in Green Bay between the Packers and Cowboys: 13-below.
