Roster Moves: Seahawks lose a 2023 draft pick on waiver claim

Nov 5, 2025, 2:07 PM

The Seattle Seahawks made a number of roster moves Wednesday, and it has resulted in one of their 2023 NFL Draft picks moving on to another team.

Third-year safety Jerrick Reed II was waived by the Seahawks to make room on their 53-man roster for wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, who was acquired in an NFL trade deadline deal with the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday.

What three NFL insiders said about Seahawks’ Rashid Shaheed trade

Reed wasn’t on waivers long, as he has been claimed by the Tennessee Titans, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The 25-year-old Reed appeared in 19 NFL games for the Seahawks over the past three seasons, making 18 combined tackles. A sixth-round pick out of New Mexico, Reed had been on Seattle’s practice squad this year but was signed onto the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday’s game at Washington.

The Seahawks also filled an open spot on the practice squad Wednesday, signing wide receiver Mac Dalena, an undrafted rookie out of Fresno State. He had 1,065 yards and eight touchdowns on 64 receptions as a senior in 2024 to earn first-team All-Mountain West honors.

Shaheed, a deep threat receiver who is a one-time Pro Bowl and All-Pro selection as a returner, was acquired Tuesday from the Saints for a pair of 2026 draft picks: a fourth-rounder and a fifth-rounder.

The 6-2 Seahawks are tied for first place in the NFC West going into Sunday’s 1:05 p.m. home game against the Arizona Cardinals, who are last in the division at 3-5. Radio coverage on Seattle Sports will begin Sunday at 10 a.m. with the pregame show.
