Bears sign former Seahawks OL Bradley Sowell

As expected, Bradley Sowell will not be returning to the Seahawks offensive line after signing a deal with the Bears.

ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss tweeted Tuesday morning that Sowell signed a one-year deal with Chicago, and the Bears later confirmed in a tweet of their own. Sowell started nine games for Seattle at left and right tackle in 2016 after signing a $1 million deal that offseason. He previously played for the Arizona Cardinals.

George Fant finished the season as the Seahawks’ starting left tackle and they signed veteran Luke Joekel and Oday Aboushi as free agents this offseason. The team is expected to try moving last year’s first-round pick, Germain Ifedi, from guard to right tackle, and they drafted a pair of versatile linemen – Ethan Pocic (2nd round) and Justin Senior (sixth round) – over the weekend.

Seattle’s other starting right tackle, Garry Gilliam, signed with the 49ers earlier in the offseason.
