The first round of bids for the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks are due today, according to a report from Bloomberg on Monday.

The report stated that the Seahawks’ sale is expected to be the largest ever for an NFL franchise, surpassing the $6.05 billion the Washington Commanders sold for back in 2023.
According to the report, a Seahawks spokesperson said there wasn’t any news to share on the sale process. Allen & Co., which has been hired by the Seahawks to run the sale process, also declined to comment, per the report.
“Such a deal will again test the appetite of billionaires to drum up cash for a sports franchise,” the report said. “With team valuations surging over the last few years, the pool of potential suitors has been shrinking.”
The Bloomberg report didn’t mention any new potential bidders other than the three previously reported groups.
Sportico reported in early May that a group led by former Boston Celtics control owner Wyc Grousbeck and Indian steel titan and Celtics investor Aditya Mittal were preparing a bid.
Just hours after that, Sportico also reported that a group led by Sun Microsystems co-founder and recent San Francisco 49ers investor Vinod Khosla was preparing a bid.
And earlier this month, Semafor reported that billionaire financier Todd Boehly was “weighing a bid” for the Seahawks. Boehly is chairman and owner of Chelsea Football Club and a member of the ownership groups for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Sparks. He also is the co-founder, chairman and CEO of Eldridge Industries.
The estate of Paul Allen announced in February that it was putting the Seahawks up for sale, less than two weeks after the franchise won its second Super Bowl title. A sale of the Seahawks has been expected since the 2018 death of Allen, who made it a directive for his trust to sell both the Seahawks and the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers, with proceeds to be donated to philanthropic efforts.
Allen purchased the Seahawks in 1997 from Ken Behring for $194 million.
A sale of the Trail Blazers for $4 billion to a group led by investor Tom Dundon was approved by the NBA in late March.
