The Seattle Seahawks’ top three left tackles – starter Charles Cross (foot), backup Josh Jones (knee, ankle) and rookie third-stringer Amari Kight (knee) – were each listed as non-participants on Thursday’s practice report for a second straight day.

However, head coach Mike Macdonald said prior to Thursday’s practice that the team is “optimistic” Cross will be able to start Sunday’s NFC title game against the Los Angeles Rams, while adding that Jones and Kight were “day to day.”

Meanwhile, Pro Bowl quarterback Sam Darnold (oblique) was limited for a second straight day, as expected. Darnold and Macdonald both acknowledged earlier this week that they’ll have to manage his workload as he deals with an oblique injury that he suffered in practice last week.

Also, veteran edge rusher Uchenna Nwosu (hamstring) was upgraded to a full participant Thursday after being limited on Wednesday.

Rookie fullback Robbie Ouzts (neck) and rookie offensive guard Bryce Cabeldue (knee) both remained limited for a second straight day.

More on Seahawks’ left tackle situation

Cross’ foot injury came in the third quarter of Seattle’s 41-6 divisional round playoff rout of the San Francisco 49ers last Saturday night.

Cross also missed the final three games of the regular season with a hamstring injury and dealt with a knee injury that he suffered in practice last week. But this week, he’s only listed with the foot injury.

“Charles is good,” Macdonald said prior to Thursday’s practice. “We’ll see how today goes, but we’re optimistic for the game.”

Jones, a veteran swing tackle, started at left tackle in place of Cross for the final three games of the regular season – including in Week 18, when he played through a knee injury. He’s been sidelined from practice since that Week 18 game.

With Jones ruled out for last Saturday’s divisional round game, Kight filled in at left tackle after Cross got hurt. Kight, an undrafted rookie, injured his knee during the game, Macdonald said.

Macdonald declined to elaborate on the Seahawks’ contingency plans in the event none of their top three options at left tackles are available for Sunday.

“We have a plan for it,” Macdonald said. “I don’t really want to say what we’d do, but we have a plan for it.”
