Brock: Seahawks will have a top-10 offensive line in the NFL

After years of struggles in the trenches, the Seattle Seahawks fielded their best offensive line in ages last season.

With steady pass protection, the Seahawks ranked 12th in ESPN’s pass block win rate and surrendered just 27 sacks during the regular season – their lowest mark in two decades and their third-lowest in franchise history. For context, Seattle gave up 40-plus sacks in 11 of the previous 12 seasons, including a whopping 54 sacks in 2024.

The Seahawks also ranked eighth in ESPN’s run block win rate last year, as the O-line paved the way for a surging rushing attack that averaged 138 yards per game and 4.5 yards per carry from Week 10 through the Super Bowl.

And the best part? The entire group up front is coming back.

The Seahawks boast an extremely rare level of continuity along their O-line, having retained all 11 linemen who took snaps during their 2025 Super Bowl-winning season. And all five of Seattle’s returning starters are age 27 or younger, including a cornerstone trio of left tackle Charles Cross (25), left guard Grey Zabel (24) and right tackle Abraham Lucas (27), who are each under contract through at least 2028.

The continuity even extends to veteran offensive line coach John Benton, who is back for his second year on Mike Macdonald’s staff after some initial speculation that he’d follow Klint Kubiak to the Las Vegas Raiders.

So, what’s the ceiling for the Seahawks’ O-line in 2026 and beyond? Former NFL quarterback Brock Huard was posed that question during a Blue 88 segment on Seattle Sports’ Brock and Salk.

“They’re going to be good,” Huard said. “I think they’re going to be a top-10 offensive line in the league. They bring back everybody. You have another year in the system. John Benton did not leave. So much of what you’re doing at the line of scrimmage does not change. … There’s a lot of continuity there, and they have got a chance to be together for a long time.”
