It certainly wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but the Seattle Seahawks found a way to prevail with a 30-23 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

After a game that featured a combined 280 yards worth a penalties, five turnovers and a first quarter that took nearly an hour of real time to finish, Seahawks color analyst and former NFL linebacker Dave Wyman shared his takeaways from the game.

“They find a way to win an ugly game,” Wyman said. “I think that’s important, (but) I wouldn’t want it to go that way again if we played them.”

Drake Thomas stands out

Seahawks linebacker Drake Thomas provided a big play early for the defense when he leaped up to make a juggling interception on the first play from scrimmage.

Thomas finished the game with five tackles, a tackle for loss, a quarterback hit and a pass defended to go along with the early pick.

“I love the way Drake Thomas played. He got the interception right away and then he made a couple of plays out there on the field that were just extra effort,” Wyman said.

Offense did what it needed to

Despite being a winless team, the Chargers’ defense had shown some signs of life early on last week against the Buffalo Bills and star quarterback Josh Allen. In that game, the Chargers’ defense had a forced fumble, interception, sack, pass defended and quarterback hit over their first 12 plays.

“So, this is a scrappy defense that they just played, and (the Seahawks) did what they had to do. They forced the run, and I thought that was a good move,” Wyman said. “I like the way Emanuel Wilson runs the ball. I’d like to have seen a little bit more from (George) Holani, but I like Holani. I think that he’s starting to make people miss. So, that was a positive.”

Wilson finished the day with 120 yards from scrimmage and two TDs on 24 touches, including 81 yards and one TD on 21 carries. His rushing TD was the first by a Seahawks running back this year.
