Brock Huard’s Chalk Talk: Seahawks’ third-down struggles vs. Cincinnati
Brock Huard breaks down one of several third-down situations the Seahawks couldn't convert toward the end of their 27-24 overtime loss to Cincinnati.
The Seahawks had converted four of six times on third down by the time they scored a defensive touchdown to take a 17-point in the third quarter Sunday against Cincinnati. The Seahawks went only one for seven on third down after that, however, one reason why they weren’t able to extend a lead that they ultimately lost when the Bengals kicked a tying field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter.
“Any one of those wins might have been the difference in the game,” coach Pete Carroll said of Seattle’s third-down chances. “It’s just frustrating that we didn’t get any of them when we needed.”
Brock Huard breaks down one of those missed chances in this week’s Chalk Talk video, a third-and-4 play at the start of the fourth quarter on which Russell Wilson had to hurry his throw under pressure and couldn’t connect with Jermaine Kearse.
That play is embedded below.
