Alvin Bailey on the Seahawks’ O-line issues against St. Louis

The Seahawks had strung together five wins in a row. The offense was setting records and the line was keeping quarterback Russell Wilson clean in the pocket. That all changed during Sunday’s loss to St. Louis.

Alvin Bailey, who started at left tackle in place of an injured Russell Okung, suggested during his appearance on “Danny, Dave and Moore” that some overconfidence may have been an issue.

“We had been kind of rolling along these past few weeks and I think we just expected to roll on through this game, too,” he said. “On the offensive side we just weren’t together. We just weren’t able to get 11 players able to do their job at the same time. There was always one of us who was making a mistake or a missed assignment or something like that.

“We just got to get back to our roots and stick together and just keep working hard and … we’ll be alright.”

(On Seattle’s attitude after the loss) “It was a tough day, but we’ve got to move on to this next game. It kind of sucks to know that things ended up the way they did (Sunday), but we’ve got to move on and get better and prepare for this week.”

(On center Patrick Lewis apologizing to the team after his shaky performance) “I talk to Pat a lot and that’s the type of guy he is. Him standing up to say something, he felt he needed to stand up, that doesn’t surprise me … He had a rough day, you know, he had a few bad snaps. That just adds on to the rest of us. It was a team effort.”

(On playing both guard and tackle) “It’s all football. Coaches do a good job every week of making sure I can see everything … It’s all football. I’m just a football player so I don’t mind whether I’m playing tackle or guard, it doesn’t really bother me that much.”

(On whether he’s hoping for a few red-zone targets now that he’s been used on some tackle-eligible plays) “I’ve been working on a few touchdown dances in my mirror. So we’ll see what the future holds.”
