The Seattle Seahawks took a 9-0 lead over the New England Patriots into halftime of Super Bowl 60.

It was a dominant first half by Seattle’s “Dark Side” defense, which sacked MVP runner-up Drake Maye three times and held the Patriots to just 51 total yards. Kenneth Walker III paced the Seahawks’ offense, rushing for 94 yards on 14 carries to set up a trio of Jason Myers field goals.

Here are some first-half highlights.

• Sam Darnold made a pair of tight-window throws on the game’s opening drive, completing a 15-yard pass to tight end AJ Barner and a 23-yard pass to Cooper Kupp.

• After Seattle’s opening drive stalled in the red zone, Myers hit a 33-yard field goal to give the Seahawks a 3-0 lead.

• On New England’s opening series, Derick Hall set the tone with a second-down sack that led to a punt.

• On the Patriots’ second drive, Seattle’s defense came up with three straight negative plays – capped by a third-down sack from Devon Witherspoon that forced another punt.

• Early in the second quarter, Walker raced around the left edge and tight-roped the sideline for a 30-yard gain, then added a 17-yard gain two plays later.

• Those two runs by Walker set up a 39-yard field goal by Myers that gave Seattle a 6-0 lead.

• The sack party continued on the Patriots’ series, when rookie defensive lineman Rylie Mills bull-rushed Patriots left guard Jared Wilson and took down Maye for Seattle’s third sack of the game. It was the first career sack for Mills, who missed most of the season while recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in December 2024 at Notre Dame.

• With about 5 minutes left in the half, Michael Dickson pinned the Patriots at the 2-yard line with a masterful punt that was downed by Velus Jones Jr. Seattle’s defense followed by forcing another punt, which gave the Seahawks good field position.

• After getting the ball back near midfield in the closing minutes of the half, Seattle’s offense drove 34 yards in under 3 minutes. That set up a 41-yard field goal by Myers, which gave the Seahawks a 9-0 lead heading into the break.
