The Seahawks got themselves a ‘Beef Boy.’

With the second of three picks Seattle made in Saturday’s fourth round of the NFL Draft, the Seahawks used the 124th overall selection on Phil Haynes, a versatile offensive lineman who was known as one of Wake Forest’s “Beef Boys” on the Demon Deacons O-line.

The 6-foot-4, 322-pound Haynes has experience playing at both guard and tackle, which should come in handy as the Seahawks work to find the best fit possible for O-line coach Mike Solari’s group.

Haynes, who started 47 career games over four seasons with Wake Forest, was a third-team All-ACC nomination as a redshirt junior in 2017 and was named to the preseason Outland Trophy Watch List in 2018.

Like current Seahawks offensive lineman George Fant, Haynes has a background as a basketball player.
