WSU receives pledge from local 4-star O-lineman

First-year coach Kirby Moore and the WSU Cougars received a huge boost to their 2027 recruiting class on Tuesday.

Four-star Curtis High School (University Place) offensive tackle Rashaun Lavata’i announced his commitment to WSU in a post on social media.

Lavata’i, the second-ranked recruit in Washington and 28th-ranked offensive tackle nationally for the class of 2027 according to On3.com, chose the Cougars over cross-state rival UW, Utah, UCLA and Oregon St., among others.

Brandon Huffman, a national recruiting analyst for On3, noted WSU was able to secure Lavata’i’s pledge after the 6-foot-6, 270-pound lineman recently made visits to UW, Utah and Oregon St.

Huffman added that Lavata’i is the highest-rated commit for a Group of Six (G6) school in ’27. The G6 consists of teams from the American Athletic Conference, Conference USA, Mid-American Conference, Mountain West Conference, Sun Belt Conference and Pac-12 Conference.

Lavata’i is WSU’s 20th commitment for the class of 2027, per On3. The class is currently ranked 71st nationally.
