The UW Huskies will face Mountain West Conference champion Boise State in the LA Bowl, according to a report Friday night by On3’s Brett McMurphy.
The LA Bowl is Saturday, Dec. 13, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., with kickoff set for 5 p.m. on ABC.
Washington (8-4 overall, 5-4 Big Ten) improved its win total by two games in head coach Jedd Fisch’s second season this fall. But as the Huskies’ losses showed, there still remains a gap between them and the Big Ten’s premier programs. Washington lost 24-6 to No. 1 Ohio State, 26-14 to No. 5 Oregon and 24-7 to No. 19 Michigan.
Boise State (9-4 overall, 6-2 Mountain West) beat UNLV 38-21 in the Mountain West championship game on Friday night to claim its third straight conference title.
Washington is 4-2 all-time against Boise State, including 1-1 in bowl games. Boise State beat UW in the 2012 Las Vegas Bowl, while the Huskies returned the favor and beat the Broncos in the 2019 Las Vegas Bowl.
The programs’ most recent matchup came in the 2023 season opener, when Michael Penix Jr. & Co. led Washington to a 56-19 rout at Husky Stadium.
Both programs made College Football Playoff runs in recent years. The 2023 Huskies reached the CFP national championship game, while the 2024 Broncos earned a bye to the CFP quarterfinals.
