Former UW Huskies RB Salvon Ahmed signs with Chicago Bears

Former UW Huskies running back and Kirkland native Salvon Ahmed signed with the Chicago Bears on Thursday.

Ahmed, a Juanita High School alum, rushed for 593 yards and five touchdowns over his first four NFL seasons with the Miami Dolphins from 2020-23. He also had 40 catches for 274 yards and a TD over that span. Most of his production came as a rookie in 2020, when he ran for 319 yards and three TDs.

Ahmed spent 2024 on the Denver Broncos’ and Indianapolis Colts’ practice squads.

Ahmed then missed the entire 2025 season after being carted off the field during Colts training camp with what was described as a severe ankle injury. The injury came on a hip-drop tackle, which the NFL banned in 2024.

At UW, Ahmed rushed for 2,016 yards and 21 touchdowns over his three seasons with the Huskies from 2017-19. As the lead back in 2019, he ran for 1,020 yards and 11 touchdowns.

D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai are entrenched as Chicago’s top two running backs, so Ahmed presumably will be among a group of backs competing for a depth role.
