UW, WSU and Gonzaga set for conference college baseball tourneys

The Zags and Cougars are both high seeds in their college baseball conference tournaments.

The postseason has arrived for a trio of local college baseball teams: the UW Huskies, WSU Cougars and Gonzaga Bulldogs.

The conference tournaments for all three begin this week, with Gonzaga entering with the most momentum as the No. 1 overall seed in the West Coast Conference after going 22-5 in conference play. The Zags are 35-17 overall and are currently on a seven-game winning streak. They also at one point this season had the longest winning streak in the nation at 14 games.

The Cougars are also a high seed as they’re in the No. 2 spot in the Mountain West tourney after going 15-9 in conference play. WSU is 27-25 overall this year.

Finally, the Huskies (23-31 overall) are the 11th seed in the Big Ten tournament after going 12-18 in conference action.

Here’s a look at the upcoming schedules for UW, WSU and Gonzaga.

UW Huskies: Big Ten Tournament

Where: Charles Schwab Fieldย โ€“ Omaha, Neb.

Wednesday, May 20: No. 11 UW Huskies vs. No. 6 Ohio State, 7 p.m.

Winner plays winner of No. 7 Michigan-No. 10 Rutgers at 7 p.m. Thursday. Loser plays loser No. 7 Michigan-No. 10 Rutgers at 11 a.m. Thursday in elimination game.

WSU Cougars: Mountain West Tournament

Where: Sloan Park – Mesa, Ariz.
Double-elimination format
TV broadcasts on Mountain West Network

Friday, May 22: No. 2 WSU Cougars vs. winner of No. 3 Air Force-No. 6 UNLV, 6:05 p.m.

Winner advances to semifinal game at 1:05 p.m. Saturday. Loser plays in elimination game at 9:05 a.m. Saturday, with winner advancing to second semifinal at 6:05 p.m. Saturday.

Gonzaga Bulldogs: WCC Tournament

Where: Scottsdale Stadium – Scottsdale, Ariz.
Double-elimination format
TV broadcasts on ESPN+

Thursday, May 21: No. 1 Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. No. 5 Saint Mary’s, 2 p.m.

Winner advances to quarterfinals at 2 p.m. Friday. Loser plays in elimination game at 10 a.m. Friday.
