Apple Cup Uniforms: WSU Cougars, UW Huskies set their threads

The annual Apple Cup is already here, and the uniforms for the rivalry clash between the UW Huskies and WSU Cougars are set.

WSU holding competition to determine QB for Apple Cup this week

The Cougars, who will host the 4:30 p.m. Saturday game at Pullman’s Martin Stadium, are breaking out an interesting look with gray jerseys, red pants and red helmets.

WSU announced its uniforms on Wednesday.

As for the Huskies, they’re also going with a rare look: all white with their jerseys and pants, plus gold helmets.

UW announced its choice on Thursday, using a screenshot from the College Football 26 video game.

The Cougars won last year’s Apple Cup, which was the first since the dissolution of the old Pac-12, at Lumen Field, the home of the Seattle Seahawks.

The game was traditionally played on the weekend after Thanksgiving, but it was moved to an early-season matchup for the foreseeable future after UW left for the Big Ten, making the Apple Cup a non-conference meeting.

WSU will aim to win back-to-back games over the Huskies for the ninth time in the history of the rivalry series. The Cougars have never won more than two straight Apple Cups.

Both coaches – second-year Huskies coach Jedd Fisch and first-year Cougars coach Jimmy Rogers – will be looking for their first career Apple Cup win.

The all-time Apple Cup record is 76-34-6 in favor of UW. Over the past four Apple Cups, the Cougs and Dawgs are even at 2-2.

The TV broadcast of Saturday’s Apple Cup game will air on CBS, while the Cougars radio broadcast can be heard in the Seattle area on the Seattle Sports app and Seattle Red 770 AM starting at 2:30 p.m. with the pregame show. Click here for details on the entire WSU Radio Network.
