Sounders FC forward Jordan Morris and midfielder Aaron Kovar were named to the MLS Homegrown Game roster on Tuesday via Facebook Live video by the team’s coach, former USMNT star Landon Donovan.
The Homegrown Game takes place on July 27 in San Jose, Calif. against the Mexico U-20 national team, winner of the CONCACAF U-20 championship.
Morris and Kovar are the first Sounders players to be named to the roster since Sean Okoli, who was selected in the inaugural Homegrown Game in 2014.

“It’s awesome, it’s an honor to be called into a team like that and it should be an exciting game,” Morris said. “Great coach, obviously. Should be a lot of fun.”
He added that Donovan was a role model to him as a kid, and that the veteran has given him great advice in the past.
