The Seattle Sounders signed Kirkland native Peter Kingston to a first-team contract through the 2026 season with club options through June 2027 and the 2027-28 season, the team announced Friday.

Kingston, a 24-year-old midfielder, played collegiately for the UW Huskies and the Seattle U Redhawks. He spent the 2025 season with the Tacoma Defiance of MLS NEXT Pro and played for Ballard FC in USL League II from 2022-24. He’s also a Sounders FC Academy product.

“We’re excited to sign Peter to the first team and are proud of how he’s shown continual growth within our system,” Sounders general manager Craig Waibel said in a release. “He is another strong example of the development pathway we’ve built at this club. We’re looking forward to seeing Peter continue that progression with our group.”

Kingston made his MLS debut with the Sounders last season, appearing in one match and logging 11 minutes. He’s appeared in one MLS match this season, playing 85 minutes in a 1-0 win over San Jose March 15. Kingston has also played in both of Seattle’s CONCACAF Champions Cup games this year, including assisting on both goals in a 2-1 win over Vancouver in the round of 16 on March 18.

Kingston had two goals and six assists in 26 MLS NEXT Pro matches for Tacoma in 2025.

The Lake Washington High School grad began his college career at Seattle U, notching two goals and five assists in 47 matches over three seasons. In his final two college seasons at UW, he tallied eight goals and nine assists in 39 matches, which included 36 starts.

“Peter has earned this contract through the work he’s put in every day,” Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer said. “He’s been consistent in training, taken coaching well and made the most of his opportunities with both Tacoma Defiance and the First Team. He’s stepped in with confidence when called upon and shown he belongs at this level. We’re excited to fully integrate him into our group and see how he can continue to help the team.”
