Video: Mariners’ Ketel Marte saves a run with sliding catch

Mariners shortstop Ketel Marte turned in a highlight from what would be a most disappointing 4-3 loss to Kansas City Thursday, making a brilliant catch to save a run in the third inning.

Marte was positioned to the right of second base with the Mariners in a shift, and according to Statcast, he covered 85 feet to make a sliding back-handed catch in shallow left field, robbing Alex Gordan of an RBI.
