Video: Mariners’ Edwin Diaz strikes out the side for first career save

Video of new Mariners closer Edwin Diaz striking out the side Tuesday night to earn his first career save and preserve a 5-4 comeback win over Boston.

Promoted to closer Monday night by the Mariners after another poor outing from Steve Cishek, 22-year-old rookie phenom Edwin Diaz got his first chance Tuesday night at his new role.

Diaz entered in the ninth inning and shut the door, striking out the side with one walk in between to preserve the Mariners’ 5-4 comeback win over Boston.

Check it out in the video above.

Diaz’s three strikeouts give him 52 in 26 innings since he was promoted from Double-A Jackson in June.
