Game 5 on Friday night at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park.

The winner moves on to the ALCS against the AL East champion and top-seeded Toronto Blue Jays. The loser goes home.

Seattle’s Julio Rodríguez hit a solo home run and an RBI single, but Kerry Carpenter had a two-run homer for Detroit as the game went to extra innings. Zach McKinstry delivered the game-winning RBI single in the 11th.

• Game 2: Mariners 3, Tigers 2

Jorge Polanco hit a pair of solo homers off of Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, but Spencer Torkelson tied the game with a two-run double in the eighth. The Mariners responded in the bottom of the inning with Cal Raleigh and Rodríguez hitting back-to-back doubles to take back the lead, and Andrés Muñoz earned the save with a perfect ninth inning of work.

• Game 3: Mariners 8, Tigers 4

Even after a nearly three-hour rain delay, Seattle’s bats got going as the series shifted to Detroit’s Comerica Park. The Mariners jumped out to a 4-0 lead and led by as many as seven runs, with Eugenio Suárez, J.P. Crawford and Raleigh all homering. Logan Gilbert threw six innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts to get the win.

• Game 4: Tigers 9, Mariners 3

Seattle took a 3-0 lead but only came up with one run after loading the bases with no outs in the fourth inning. Detroit tied the game with three runs in the fifth, took the lead on a Riley Greene homer to lead off the bottom of the sixth, and then poured it on the rest of the way, including two more homers. Rookie right-hander Troy Melton, who started Game 1 for the Tigers, threw three scoreless innings of relief while Detroit’s offense took over.
