The Seattle Mariners’ jerseys will have a different look this season.
The Mariners announced Thursday that Nintendo of America will be the franchise’s first-ever jersey sleeve partner. Seattle’s home jerseys will feature a red patch with the Nintendo racetrack logo and the road jerseys a red patch with the Nintendo Switch 2 logo. Seattle is the first MLB team to feature different patches on home and road uniforms.
Does Dan Wilson give Seattle Mariners something Servais couldn’t?
“Nintendo and the Mariners have been inextricably linked since 1992,” president of baseball operations Kevin Martinez said in a release. “Now, each time the Mariners take the field, our jersey sleeves will help serve as a reminder of all that Nintendo of America has done for the Northwest community and the team. There isn’t a better partnership in Major League Baseball. We are grateful for our incredible relationship with Nintendo.”
The new jersey patch will debut on opening day next Thursday when Seattle takes on the Athletics at T-Mobile Park. First pitch is schedule for 7:10 p.m.

The club also announced center fielder Julio Rodríguez will serve as a brand ambassador for the partnership.
“It’s a genuine thrill to be able to partner with such a talented team, including bright stars like Julio,” said Doug Bowser, president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America. “Our history with the Mariners goes back decades so this really feels like coming home. Nintendo has a lot of exciting news this year and through collaborations like this one, we can’t wait to create even more smiles across all generations.”
Nintendo of America purchased the Mariners in 1992, making the club the MLB’s first with international ownership. The company retained a 10% stake in the franchise when it sold its majority interest to the current ownership group led by chairman and chief executive officer John Stanton in 2016.

The M’s were one of just seven MLB teams that did not have a jersey patch sponsor last season.
