The AL West-leading Seattle Mariners are looking to build upon their six-game winning streak with the New York Mets in town for a new series starting Monday night at T-Mobile Park.

No doubt: Julio gives red-hot Mariners what they need

The M’s (31-29 record) enter the game with a 2.5-game lead in the division, which is exactly how many games they were behind the Athletics for first place a week ago. In the time since, Seattle swept away the A’s in Sacramento to move atop the division, then built on its lead with three straight wins at home over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Mets, on the other hand, come into the series with a 26-33 record, putting them 13.5 games back in the NL East race. But they’re riding high having won four straight, including a sweep in New York over the Miami Marlins over the weekend.

Injuries

New York is playing without a number of key players working their way back from injury: shortstop Francisco Lindor, catcher Francisco Alvarez, pitcher Kodai Senga, and old friend Jorge Polanco, the Mariners’ postseason hero from last year who signed as a free agent over the winter to play first base for the Mets.

The Mariners have a couple of key injuries of their own. Slugging catcher Cal Raleigh and third baseman Brendan Donovan, both All-Stars in 2025, remain out of action with core injuries. There was good news to report Monday on Raleigh, who caught a bullpen, according to Mariners insider Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports.

Game 1 lineups

The M’s have an interesting lineup against a right-handed starting pitcher, because the Mets are actually using reliever Austin Warren as an opener Monday.

As a result, Rob Refsnyder, who typically sees action against left-handed pitching, is hitting seventh and serving as the designated hitter with southpaw Sean Manea set to pitch the bulk of the game for the Mets.

Also worth noting is that Luke Raley, who mainly faces right-handers, is hitting fifth in the lineup and playing right field over Victor Robles, who had the walk-off at-bat in Sunday’s win. Raley leads the Mariners with 13 home runs and 31 RBIs, and his .932 OPS would be on top of the team leaderboard if he had the qualifying number of plate appearances.
