Mariners’ resurgent Luke Raley drives in 7 runs with 2-HR night

Luke Raley entered Friday fifth on the Seattle Mariners in RBIs, four back of Cole Young for the team lead.

Well, Luke Raley ended the day in the team lead in RBIs. A two-homer, seven-RBI night will do that.

Raley blasted a 372-foot, 113.4 mph grand slam to give Seattle a 5-1 lead over the Chicago White Sox in the top of the third inning.

Then in the seventh, he came up with two runners on and lifted off again for a second 372-foot homer, though this one had an exit velocity of “just” 103.6 mph.

Raley delivered half of Seattle’s four homers against the White Sox as the M’s won the series opener 12-8 at Chicago’s Rate Field.

The 31-year-old Raley is enjoying a resurgent season after being hindered in 2025 with an oblique issue. With eight homers and 23 RBIs in 34 games this year, he’s already eclipsed his output of four homers and 19 RBIs in 73 games last season.

Friday’s game was clearly Raley’s best of the season, if not his career. The seven runs driven in were, not surprisingly, a career high. It was his third ever multi-home run game in his six MLB seasons, and the grand slam was the first he’d ever hit in the big leagues. He also came just one RBI short of the single-game Mariners record of eight, which is shared by three players (Mike Cameron, Mike Blowers and Alvin Davis).

Raley and the Mariners will look to clinch a series win in Chicago in Game 2 at 4:10 p.m. Saturday. Mariners Radio Network coverage on Seattle Sports will begin at 3 with the pregame show.
