Mariners Lineup: Latest trade pickup gets first start
Buddy Kennedy, who was acquired in late June, is playing third base and batting ninth against Tampa Bay on Friday.

Buddy Kennedy hasn’t gotten much playing time since he was acquired by the Seattle Mariners, but he’s getting his first start with his new club on Friday night.
Another prospect who could help the Mariners this season
Kennedy, who was acquired for cash in a June 29 trade with the San Francisco Giants, is batting ninth as the third baseman against Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Nick Martinez.
The 27-year-old Kennedy has appeared in only one game since the trade and struck out in his only at-bat. He’s 0 for 8 with four strikeouts and one walk in eight total games this year with the Mariners and Giants.
Kennedy has a career .170 batting average and .524 OPS with two homers in 75 games over five big league seasons with seven teams.
With Kennedy manning third base on Friday, J.P. Crawford is playing shortstop and rookie Colt Emerson has the night off.
In addition to Kennedy receiving his first start as a Mariner, Miles Mastrobuoni is getting his first start since being recalled from Triple-A Tacoma last Friday. Mastrobuoni, who is batting .217 with a .486 OPS in 10 games this year, is hitting eighth as the right fielder.

First pitch for Friday’s series opener against Tampa Bay is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. Radio coverage on Seattle Sports 710 AM and the Seattle Sports app begins with the pregame show at 3 p.m.

Oh boy, Dipoto strikes again, he's gone and picked up another .170 hitter. That will definitely turn around this floundering franchise that he has created. What I say is Fire Dipoto. Enough is enough.
