Lineup: Mariners give Cal a DH day in finale vs Astros

The Seattle Mariners have a chance to sweep a four-game series against the rival Houston Astros on Monday afternoon, and you better believe All-Star slugger Cal Raleigh is in the lineup despite having caught each of the past three days.

Raleigh is the designated hitter and in his usual No. 2 spot in the batting order for the rare Monday afternoon contest at T-Mobile Park. Though he is hitting just .133 in the young season, Raleigh crushed his second home run of the year on Saturday.

With Raleigh as the DH on Monday, veteran backup catcher Mitch Garver gets his fourth game of action behind the plate of this season.

The M’s will face Astros starting pitcher Mike Burrows, who has allowed 10 earned runs in 16 innings over three starts for a 5.63 ERA this season. Houston’s pitching staff has been hammered with injury woes and enters Monday with an MLB-worst 6.49 ERA and 1.70 WHIP.

The Mariners will counter with George Kirby on the mound. The fifth-year right-hander has a 3.60 ERA and 0.900 WHIP in three starts (20 innings) this season. He allowed three runs in an eight-inning, complete game loss on the road to the Texas Rangers in his last outing on April 7.

With three straight wins over Houston in the series, the Mariners have improved to 7-9 to pass the Astros (6-10) in the standings and get out of the cellar in the American League West. Seattle not only ensured its first series win of 2026 with a victory on Sunday, but can now get its first sweep of the season by finishing things off Monday.

First pitch of Monday’s game is set for 1:10 p.m., with Mariners Radio Network coverage on Seattle Sports 710 AM and the Seattle Sports app set to begin at noon.
