The Tigers announced that the game was in a delay just under an hour before the scheduled start time of 1:08 p.m. Pacific.
Mariners insider Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports shared video on social media at 3:09 p.m. of the grounds crew in Detroit coming back out on to the field.

The later start pushed the game into the same window as the other ALDS Game 3 between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees, which was set for a 5:08 p.m. first pitch. With both games originally scheduled to have their TV broadcasts on FS1, the Mariners-Tigers game was moved to FS2 and MLB Network in addition to the FOX One App.
The Mariners Radio Network broadcast is on Seattle Sports 710 AM and the Seattle Sports app.
Delays were a nemesis for the Mariners in the regular season, with the club going 1-6 in games that were impacted by weather, per Clutchpoints.
The Mariners lost games delayed by rain at the home parks of the Chicago White Sox, Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles, plus the Little League Classic in Williamsport, Penn., against the New York Mets. However, their lone win in a game with a rain delay was a 15-7 victory over the Tigers during Seattle’s three-game sweep in Detroit in mid-July.
The Mariners had three games in five days go into a weather delay during one road trip in August, which was one of the lower points of their season.
Seattle tied the best-of-five ALDS at one win apiece with a 3-2 victory in Game 2 over the Tigers on Sunday night at T-Mobile Park.
