Scary news to pass on as there are reports out of Venezuela that Mariners pitching prospect Victor Sanchez has been hospitalized after suffering a head injury when hit by a watercraft while swimming off the coast of Carupano. The club has confirmed Sanchez was involved in an accident Friday but they have not given an update on Sanchez’s condition.
Sanchez, 20, is a highly regarded pitching prospect for the Mariners who spent last season at Double A Jackson. He was signed by the club out of Venezuela on July 12, 2011.
I continue to update this post as more information becomes available.
