M’s prospect Kade Anderson named AL starter for Futures Game

Seattle Mariners starting pitching prospect Kade Anderson is being recognized for his dominant year in Double-A with a big honor.

The 21-year-old Anderson on Friday was named as the American League starter for Sunday’s All-Star Futures Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Anderson has been nearly untouchable for Double-A Arkansas in his first season of pro baseball after being selected third overall in the 2025 MLB Draft. In 14 starts, the left-hander has a sparkling 1.36 ERA and 0.69 WHIP with 108 strikeouts to 10 walks over 72 2/3 innings. He leads qualified minor league pitchers in Single-A and above in ERA and is second in strikeouts. He also leads the Texas League in both stats, as well as WHIP and wins (eight).

Anderson, ranked as the Mariners’ No. 1 prospect and the top pitching prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline, has allowed one run or fewer in 11 of his 14 starts, including nine scoreless outings. He’s also allowed two hits or fewer six times.

Anderson will be joined on the AL squad by Double-A teammate Ryan Sloan, a right-handed starting pitcher ranked as Seattle’s No. 2 prospect and eighth in MLB.
