SEATTLE – Top Seattle Mariners outfield prospect Jonny Farmelo is still progressing as he works his way back from a stress fracture in his ribs.

Farmelo’s injury occurred while swinging the bat, and he has been out of the High-A Everett AquaSox’s lineup since May 23. Hollander said the 20 year old isn’t “quite at 100% when he swings,” general manager Justin Hollander said Tuesday.

“Still feels an occasional pinch, but getting closer,” Hollander said of Farmelo.

Farmelo is Seattle’s No. 6 prospect and No. 74 in all of baseball, per MLB Pipeline.

The left-handed-hitting center fielder began this season on the injured list while rehabbing from a torn ACL in his right knee he suffered on a non-contact play while with the Single-A Modesto Nuts last June. Farmelo made his season debut with the AquaSox April 29.

In 15 games at High-A, Farmelo is slashing .288/.348/.610 with two doubles, one triple, five home runs, 12 RBIs, six walks and 20 strikeouts.

• Right-handed reliever Hunter Cranton, a third-round pick in the 2024 draft, is set to join the AquaSox on Tuesday. Cranton, the Mariners’ No. 21 prospect, began the season on the IL with a concussion after he was struck in the face with a line drive during his Cactus League debut March 7.

Shoulder soreness during Cranton’s rehab process slowed his return, but he’s ready to join Everett after making two appearances last week with Seattle’s Arizona Complex League affiliate.

“Up to 99 (mph) both times (and) felt great,” Hollander said. “I’m really excited for Hunter to get his season going. It’s been a long road.”

• Second baseman Brock Rodden and outfielder Cade Marlowe are expected to return to game action near the All-Star break.

Rodden, who has been out the Double-A Arkansas Travelers’ lineup with an oblique strain since May 14, was a fifth-round pick in 2023. He’s Seattle’s 26th-ranked prospect.

Marlowe is ahead of schedule in his recovery from surgery to repair a bulging disc in his back. The 28 year old has played 42 games at the big league level since 2023.

• Right-handers Teddy McGraw and Taylor Dollard are doing well in Everett after making three appearances apiece since returning from serious injuries.

McGraw, who is coming back from his second Tommy John surgery, has a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and eight strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings. A third-round pick in 2023, McGraw is the organization’s 17th-ranked prospect.

Dollard, who hasn’t pitched since 2023 while recovering from a torn labrum, has a 2.16 ERA and 1.08 WHIP with six strikeouts over 8 1/3 innings. The 2020 fifth-round pick reached Triple-A before the labrum tear and was the Mariners’ No. 9 prospect at the time.

“Both of them have felt fine after each outing,” Hollander said. “Stuff has been ticking up in both cases, so feel good for them that they have not had any setbacks so far.”
