Mariners trade Bedard, Fields in 3-team deal
The Mariners have traded Erik Bedard and Josh Fields to the Boston Red Sox.

The Mariners have traded Erik Bedard and Josh Fields to the Boston Red Sox.
In exchange, the M’s will receive Double-A outfielder Chih-Hsien Chiang from the Red Sox and Triple-A outfielder Trayvon Robinson from the LA Dodgers.
Just off the disabled list, Bedard was 4-7 with a 3.45 ERA in 16 starts for Seattle this season.
“Today’s trade provided us another opportunity to continue to accumulate talent in our organization,” Jack Zduriencik said in a news release. “We like both players we acquired today, and believe both have bright futures as Major League players.”
Chiang, 23, is hitting .338 (107-for-317) with 36 doubles, 4 triples, 18 home runs and 76 RBI in 87 games with AA Portland in the Eastern League. He has a .399 on-base percentage, is slugging .647 and has an 1.046 OPS.
Robinson, 23, is batting .293 (108-for-368) with 9 doubles, 6 triples, 26 home runs and 71 RBI in 100 games with AAA Albuquerque. He has a .375 on-base percentage, is slugging .563 and has an .938 OPS.
