MINNEAPOLIS, Mn. – With snow in the forecast early Sunday afternoon, the Mariners game against the Minnesota Twins has been postponed and will be made up on May 14, a mutual off-day.

Is shaky start for Mariners’ bullpen cause for concern?

With a first pitch record low for both teams of 27 degrees and a wind chill that dropped to 16 degrees during the game Saturday, the forecast of 32 degrees at game time seemed almost balmy. The snow that was sent to follow however provided a different challenge and the decision was made not to play.

The Mariners will now make a stop in Minneapolis Monday, May 14 on their way back from Detroit for a 6:10 CT game against the Twins and then return to Seattle for a six-game home stand that begins May 15. On a positive note, the Mariners should have Nelson Cruz, Mike Zunino and Ben Gamel back for that game.

Marco Gonzales was set to make his second start of the season in the finale against the Twins, his start will now be pushed to Monday in Kansas City. There is no official word yet how the Mariners will handle the rest of the series but if they push the other starters as well, they would not need to make a roster move to get Ariel Miranda up for the start Wednesday. With the postponement the Mariners unusual schedule to start the season becomes even more unusual as they have now had four off days in the first eleven.
