Mariners blend past and present with new alternate uniforms

The Mariners unveiled their new alternate uniforms as well as some updates to the current home tops in an event for season ticket holders Friday morning at Safeco Field.

The current home uniforms have been given an update with the silver and Northwest green trimming around the lettering and numbers reversed. The letters and numbers appear to be brighter with the reversal and seem to “pop” more. The Mariners are also adding striped stirrups.

The big change, though, comes with the addition of the new alternate look, which will be worn during Sunday home games. The cream-colored uniform brings together the present and past with the compass rose on the sleeve and the current lettering across the front, which is lined in the original Mariners colors of royal blue and gold. On the backs of the jerseys there are no player names and the block numbers are larger. The caps are royal blue with a gold “S” and compass rose logo.

“The royal blue and gold colors of our franchise’s inaugural uniforms are blended with the lettering and logo of our current identity in a unique design that pays homage to our club’s history,” said Kevin Martinez, the Mariners’ vice president of marketing. “This new alternate uniform is perfect for sunny Sunday afternoons at Safeco Field.”

The Mariners’ two other alternate jerseys, navy and Northwest green, are unchanged.

The new alternate jerseys are available now at the Safeco Field Mariners Team Store and at Mariners.com. They will soon be available at all Team Stores.
