All went well with veteran reliever Joaquin Benoit's catch session on Tuesday, and he has been activated from the 15-day DL by the Mariners and will be available for the series opener with Baltimore.

The scene from Baltimore: damp. As you can see at the bottom of the post, the tarp is on the field and there will be no batting practice for either team.

There was a catch session, however. Veteran reliever Joaquin Benoit, who had been on the 15-day DL with a shoulder strain, wanted to play catch one more time before being activated after feeling a bit of unrelated soreness following his last throwing session. All went well and he will be available for Tuesday night’s game. Mayckol Guaipe has been optioned to Tacoma to make room for Benoit on the roster.

Because of his experience level and relatively short time shut down from throwing, a rehab assignment was not necessary. Still, Scott Servais will be careful with his eighth-inning reliever, saying that he will not be pitching three and four days in a row any time soon.

As for the game, we shall see. While it is still raining here two hours before first pitch, it is expected to clear up by game time.
