Two Seattle Mariners prospects in top 10 of new rankings

A trio of the top Mariners prospects did some pretty incredible things in the last week. Let’s break down what we’re talking about.

No. 1: Kade Anderson is still unstoppable in Double-A.

Left-hander Kade Anderson is now six starts into his season, and he still hasn’t allowed more than one run in any outing.

Anderson, the No. 3 overall pick out of LSU in the 2025 MLB Draft by Seattle, added to his ridiculous start with Double-A Arkansas on Friday with 5 2/3 innings of one-run, two-hit baseball, striking out nine while allowing one walk against the Tulsa Drillers.

On the year, Anderson has a 0.60 ERA and 0.67 WHIP with 47 strikeouts to five walks over 30 innings.

Oh, and we should probably mention Anderson is in his first pro season. It was already impressive that he completely skipped the rookie, Single-A and High-A levels, so the fact that he has hit the ground running by completely dominating Double-A is truly remarkable.

No. 2: Felnin Celesten has not stopped hitting.

Last Monday, we passed along that shortstop Felnin Celesten was on a tear for the High-A Everett AquaSox, earning back-to-back Northwest League Player of the Week awards. In the seven days since, Celesten has only gotten hotter at the plate.

Celesten now owns a 16-game hitting streak, and his last week took things up a notch. In five games of a series at home against the Hillsboro Hops, Celesten went 10 for 20 (.500) with two doubles, two home runs, seven RBIs, seven runs, two walks and two stolen bases.

After his huge series, Celesten’s slash line for the season sits at .333/.435/.509 for a .944 OPS with three home runs, eight doubles, a triple, 23 RBIs, 25 runs, and 19 walks to 26 strikeouts. He’s raised his statistics considerably since his tear started on April 18, at which point he had a .167/.293/.271 slash line for a .564 OPS.

No. 3: Colt Emerson shows off his prodigious power.

Lastly, we check in on the Mariners’ No. 1 prospect, shortstop Colt Emerson.

He had a great week in a six-game series in El Paso, going 10 for 28 (.357) to raise his average from .223 to .254. He also had two home runs – one of which you really need to see, because Emerson reached the top of the batter’s eye at Southwest University Park on Friday.

Oh yeah, and the lefty-swinging Emerson did that against a left-handed pitcher, too. Seems like a good sign.

Emerson and the Rainiers are back home at Tacoma’s Cheney Stadium to play a series this week against the Sugar Land Space Cowboys beginning Tuesday.
